Cardiovascular
diseases are emerging as a serious health problem in
Bangladesh and other developing countries. The gigantic
problem of cardiovascular diseases cannot solved by
Government alone. For effective prevention and control of
cardiovascular disease National Heart Foundation was formed
at the initiative of National Professor Brig. (Rtd.) Abdul
Malik with some dedicated medical and non-medical social
workers on 12 October 1978 to supplement the activities of
the Government. It is non-governmental and non-profit making
organization approved and supported by the Government of
Bangladesh. The Foundation is a member of World Heart
Federation (WHF) and World Hypertension League (WHL). World Health
Organization (WHO) is also supporting the various training
program and academic activities. |
