Department of Cardiac Anesthesia & Intensive Care
The department of Anesthesiology, National Heart Foundation Hospital & Research Institute is proud of its rich clinical heritage. The Anesthesiology service was established in 1999 by prof. A.T.M Khalilur Rahman. He is still working as the head of the department .Currently, the department of Anesthesiology is quite impressive in its clinical, educational and research scales. There are 04 operating rooms with state of the art equipments,16 ICU beds, 16 PICU beds. The depart5ment has laboratory for ABG, Electrolytes, ACT estimation . Annually about 2000 anesthesia cases are carried out in OR’s. The department also provides Anesthesia in Cardiac Cath-Lab Procedures. Resuscitation & Critical care services are provided in coronary care units, Cardiac Cath-Labs and other wards/units of the hospital.
The department launches Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Life Support (ALS) training for nurses, paramedics & Physician. It also provides training for Nurses, Anesthesiologists & Intensivists. Presently 4 Senior consultants, 2 Registrars & 12 Medical officers are working in the department.
